Right, so now that I've had my little rant about the madness in my life at the moment, lets get talking fashion. I think I need to specify that I do not think I am a fashion specialist or know everything or anything at all about it. However, I am very curious and in awe of the fashion industry at the moment - So as I learn I am taking you along on the journey with me! Sit - read and enjoy (that is if you find reading this enjoyable, if not then you may never want to come on this page again).
So, Paris Fashion Week was definitely full of surprises with Escalators from Louis Vuitton, Bee hive and honeycomb styles from Alexander McQueen, dark blacks and sophisticated whites from Chanel and smart and elegance from Saint Laurent. SO much good stuff that I was just gutted that I couldn't watch it all live! I know that there was a lot of press stating that Louis Vuitton was the show stopping show for Fashion Week but I only partially agree (Yes, me the one who doesn't know much about fashion) - I just go off what I like and don't like it's all opinions not facts!
Louis Vuitton used a lot of block colours and symmetrical designs, they made me feel as if I was in another world - a world of bright yellows, greens, browns and whites with square prints taking over. It was a beautiful statement having the models come down on escalators, it was definitely different from what I saw in the other shows. I ADORED their bags, usually I'm not a big Louis Vuitton fan when it comes to bags but I have to say I fell in love!
With Alexander McQueen, there was a theme of bee hives and honeycomb designs. I have to admit I REALLY liked it, I loved their head pieces, they were very eye catching and I don't know, it just grabbed my attention straight away. Their designs were very cute, I would love to own some of their pieces (Keep dreaming!).
Chanel, well it's Chanel what can I say about it, they are all about the sophisticated blacks and whites. There were splashes of other colours, such as blues and pinks. A Chanel outfit would definitely make me feel prestige and sophisticated and that's what I loved about them. What made Chanel great was their LARGE beach bag - it was amazing and for someone like me who LOVES big bags, that would definitely fit the bill (although the bag was probably the size of me! And that the bill actually doesn't work for me #Broke). It was an amazing statement and I found it the highlight of the show.
Saint Laurent's collection reminded me of the very best work wardrobe, I don't know if you saw my last blog on my winter work wardrobe (if not click on the link and get reading) but this would definitely be my dream Summer Spring wardrobe. They have these beautiful large floppy hats which are gorgeous. The hats are perfect for a summers day and a lovely style statement.
I think looking over the Fashion Weeks, theirs definitely a statement of the old becoming the new - all the new fashion trends are the old trends being brought back with a twist. I guess old will always be gold!
What was your favourite from the Paris Fashion Week collections? Please do let me know by leaving me comments! I am going to leave you with images of some of my favourites from Paris Fashion Week.
Just so I don't get told off for not stating this, these images have been sourced from British Vogue's website, if you click on the links for the brand names you'll go directly onto their page. And I have to say I LOVE British Vogue they are the reason why I want to know all I can about the Fashion world now!
